Slender Chances

Timmy's flashlight was the only light source, only a thin stream of light had to make a light source for three people. Samantha felt uneasy, the surrounding them looked alive in the wind, and one looked off color, black, and she could have sworn he saw a little bit of red too. But she disregarded it, she was tired, and felt like it was most likely her mind playing tricks on her. Timmy's light started to flicker, “No, no SHIT!” yelled Timmy as his only flashlight went out and the darkness shrouded them. Nick closed his eyes and took a deep breath “Dammit Tim, I told you to bring an extra!” yelled Nick. Timmy looked back at Samantha and Nick, “Come on, it's only a mile or so away, we can make it.” said Timmy and continued walking. All that could be heard was the crunching off leaves below them, and of course the wind, the wind was howling, not loudly, but howling, ever so softly. Samantha still felt uneasy, and even more so now. The trees again seemed to be alive again, and again she saw another oddly colored tree, but this one, this one seemed oddly shaped. And this one, it was most definitely black, and it's branches, the moved so strangely, like tendrils. And then she started thinking, why could see this tree, and nothing else. “Hey.” she said trying to get the others attention, “Guys!” she yelled, and the two looked over at her, “Look.” she said and pointed in the direction of the tree. “W-where did it go?” she said, and the two just looked at her “Where did WHAT, go?” said Nick, feeling impatient “The tree.” she said “There was a tree over there.” she said “You stopped us... to look at a tree?” he said and cocked one eyebrow. “It wasn't just a tree, it was really weird.” Nick and Timmy looked at each other, “Look, Sam, I get, it's dark and it's scary, but you know what? I want to get out of here, so let's get moving, okay?” Said Nick and walked away from Samantha.

They continued to walk all night, but never seemed to get back to the road, they where lost. “Great Timmy, we're fucking lost!” said Nick angrily
“It's not my fault!” yelled Timmy “Look, it's gonna be light soon, so lets just sleep here, okay? Till it gets light, then we'll leave and go back to the car.” said Timmy
“Fuck you, Tim.” said Nick, then walked away
“Where you going?” yelled to Tim,
“I'm going to find the car!” yelled Nick, “Then I'm leaving!”
Samantha just sat there while the boys yelled at each other, a buzzing sound in her ears, and she stared out into woods in front of her, as black filled her eyes, she fell asleep. Her dreams where filled with that tree, but it was no longer a tree, it wore a black suit, and a red tie, it's legs were impossibly long, as where it's arms and torso, but worse off all, it's head, it was white and hairless, and no face, just a blank and featureless head.

The sun was just breaking over the mountain top, not yet illuminating the ground where Timmy and Samantha lay. Slowly Timmy awoke, and there was a slight whining sound mixed with a buzzing. “Nick?” yelled Timmy and was responded to by a loud scream “NICK!” he yelled again as the screaming continued. Samantha was woken up by the screaming, “Timmy?” Samantha looked around, and met her eyes with Timmy's. “What the hell was that?” she asked “I don't know.” said Timmy as he looked back into the direction of the scream. “We need to get back to the car.” said Timmy and the two sprang up and started walking.

Samantha thought to herself about her dream, about the tall, thin, slender, man in the suit. About how he morphed from tree to man, he seemingly unraveled himself, tendrils unwrapped around him as he turned into a man and the tendrils slipped back into his back. As Samantha slowly slipped back into reality Timmy started talking “...so when we get back to car we'll call the police, tell them that he left in the middle of the night, and we couldn't find him in the morning.” and looked back at Samantha. “Uh, yeah, yeah, right.” she said “Are you okay, Sam?” asked Timmy, and quickly a shadow came over them, and Timmy ran into something and hit the ground. Samantha's face quickly turned to terror as she realized what it was. A few tendrils came from it's back and slithered across the ground toward him. It picked up Timmy and held him up to it's featureless face. “It-it's you.” said Samantha, and the tall slender thing looked to her, and even though it had no face, Samantha knew he was smiling. “Put him down!” she screamed and The slender man looked at Timmy and turned him over, head to the toward the ground “Put him down!” she screamed again and Timmy fell to the ground, his neck broke, along with a few ribs. “No!” screamed Samantha as she looked down at Timmy's limp body. Samantha slowly made her way back, as the tall man reached out, and torrent of black inky tendrils shot out of it's suit sleeve. Samantha ran as fast as she could, but it was no use, the tendrils grabbed her, one on each limb, dragged her across the ground toward him. Samantha now limp on the ground below the man, screamed as a wave of tendrils came from the man's back, and rapped around her, like a mummy in rapping. She was suffocated, as tendrils went into her mouth and filled her lungs. She stopped struggling, as her pulse stopped, and her body became like a rag doll. The tall man dropped Samantha and slipped away into last little amount of darkness, as the sun rose and filled the forest...

Very Alarming

I look at my alarm clock, it says 6:17. I then look out my window and a shadow looms over and casts into my bedroom. It's tall and slender. I close my eyes tight and reopen them. He's now standing there, he has no face, his skin is white, he's wearing a suit and tie. He tilts his head, and I wake up. I look at my alarm clock, it says 6:16.

Hiss

Written by James B. Davis

As I walked down the dark abandoned school hall way, there was a rustling sound behind me. As I looked back I saw the faintest shadow move through the door, It was small, about the size of a cat, and I immediately knew what it was. I rushed through the door and turned on my flash light. I saw the thing, sitting on an old teachers desk, it looked just like they said it did. It had huge red, almost spider like eyes, and large fangs pointing down, it had a rat like face, it's hands where like that of a rat's or human's, it had a long rat like tail, and it's body was covered in course matted black hair. It seemingly smiled with it's horrid face, it jumped down into the darkness and seemed to disappeared. I felt it rub against my leg and it bit me! I pointed my flashlight down to see blood gushing from leg. I looked up and saw the thing siting there, looking at me. It ran toward me and I ran out of the room. It tripped and hit the floor, it crawled up onto my chest and hissed. It opened it horrid mouth, revealing thousands of before unseen teeth, and that was that..

Parental Guidance

By: James B. Davis

I just lay there, looking at the closet, I wasn't going to look behind me, if I did It would kill me, I'd been seeing It for weeks, and know It was ready. My little sister was sleeping on the bed above me, she had know idea what was in the room or what It was and what It was able to do. I could hear It's claws scraping the wall, I could hear It breathing, I could smell It's foul odor, like a dead bear. My parents were downstairs, sleeping in the basement.

I could hear It take a ever couple minute but then slowly step back, like he wanted to come up slightly hesitating. It growled, like a mix between a dog and bear, such an evil sound. I was keeping the tears for falling down my face, I was keeping myself from screaming and crying, if made any sound It would creep up behind me, and kill me.

The creature finally made his evil scream and I jumped from my bed, It followed behind me, right at my back, I tripped on a toy of little sister's and fall right on my stomach. I turned around and the creature slowly crawled over top of me, I'd never seen It so vividly, It's skin was pale, his eye were a grayish black, his arms were about three feet long, as were his legs, he walked on all fours, his ripped looked nearly exposed he was skinny, It had claws four inches long each, on his hands and his feet.

I look to my side out of terror, and see my father standing in the kitchen door way. I see him take four heavy steps, toward me and It screams in hope of sending fear into of father's heart, but it sends nothing more than rage. My father grabs the It by the throat, and throws to the corner. My father then puts his foot to It's chest, to keep it from moving, I see crawl back to a corner and see my father bring down a storm of rapid punches, It falls to the ground it exhaustion, I look it a mix between horror and owe as my father put a series stomps to It's head with his bare feet, turning the creature's head into a mass of jelly.

I sit there in the corner shaking, and never blinking, my eyes wide open stay stuck to It. My father walks toward and lifts me up by the hand, my eyes still wide open and fixed on It, and he takes me to the couch “Don't look at it.” he says softly, but my eyes still are still fixed It. The sun was rising and the moon was falling, the star faded away, and the clouds illuminated pink and red...

Spring Break Monster Marathon: Can you see him?

He's looking at me now, with his blank white eyes. He's right there in the door way, can't you see him? Can't you see the blood dripping from his claws, paleness in his skin? He's looking right in my eyes, watching. He's slowly creeping toward me, his claws dragging on the ground behind him. Can't you hear the sound, the sound of his deep breath and his skin rubbing together? He can hear you, he can hear your heart beat, the sound of your lunges slowly filling with air. He's even closer now, there's nothing I can do, there's nothing you can do either. I just close my eyes, I hope this nothing but a dream, nothing but nocturnal fear. It's too late know...

No Longer

By: James B. Davis

The ship drifted through the empty cosmos, no fuel, no supplies. The captain sat there no expression in his eyes, his body looking like a skeleton with skin laid over it. The ship was silent like deep sea abyss, yet something moved inside.

A skinny, clawed creature moved like a snake. Thousands of dead bodies laid on the floor, the creature crawled over the piles of dead. The creature picked a figure off a body, and placed it in it's mouth. The bones crushed, the flesh squished, and the blood squirted.

It crawled over to a vent and crawled in to it vile homestead. Skulls hung on the walls, blood washed the floor, a single light hung over in the room. The creature scratched “124th day” on the wall. The creature slowly came into the light revealing it's terrible face, dark gray, blank white eyes, and a mouth full of short sharp teeth. It dragged it's claws on the floor as it walked. It was hunched over like a caveman, as it walked toward it's large pile of bones and nestled it self inside, and it slowly went into a silent sleep...

Harmburger

 By: Jonathan Wojcik from Bogleech.com

I'd worked with meat for most of my life. Delis, slaughterhouses, even a sausage factory. Not glamorous, no, but it paid the rent and I was used to it. Apparently I was even exceptional at it, since I'd suddenly been invited to interview for a "once in a lifetime opportunity" in "high end meat service." I didn't know what that was supposed to mean. It sounded like a lot of bullshit lingo, and so did most of the interview. I couldn't even tell exactly what the job was supposed to entail. One minute it sounded like food service for a wealthier crowd, the next like quality control at a factory. Whatever the hell it was, I was sure I'd get the hang of it, and it paid easily twice what I was used to earning.

That was assuming, of course, that I even got the job. My interviewer was emotionally unreadable and remarkably unremarkable, like some cartoonish parody of a stuffy federal agent. Suit, tie, cheap haircut, glasses, nearly monotone speech pattern. I couldn't even tell that our meeting was concluded when he stiffly extended his arm for an uncomfortably cold, moist handshake.

That was the last thing I remembered before the meat locker.

I awoke alone on its hard, tiled floor with blurred vision. I was still dressed for the interview. Had I been drugged? Had I tripped and fallen? I searched my memory for some kind of company tour, anything that might have filled in the blanks.

I sat up and took in my surroundings. Huge beef carcasses swung softly in the corner. Every wall was dominated by shelves of riveted sheet metal, packed full of butchered parts. Another corner was occupied by immense metal drums, probably filled with processed scrap. There were large coolers to my left and a massive shelf of what looked like pickle jars to my right. The door was more like a bank vault's than a freezer, with a wheel-like mechanism that didn't even belong on the inside.

It didn't budge in any direction. Locked.

I called for help. I pounded with my fists. I tried my phone. No signal. I was more angry than afraid, forgetting the entire mystery of how I got here and just pissed that an allegedly "high end" business would be this goddamn careless. I was already formulating my complaint speech when it started to dawn on me that I wasn't cold.

That didn't make sense.

The lights were working, and I could hear the hum of machinery, but the room was barely cool. Nothing frozen, nothing even frosty. It was even a little warm. By the time everything had thawed like this, the stink should have been suffocating, but there wasn't a hint of anything other than freshly butchered, bloody meat. It was as if every last thing in here had been chopped up only moments before I arrived.

Anger slowly gave way to curiosity as I more closely investigated the contents of the vault. I couldn't tell what most of these things even were. You learn a lot about anatomy when you've been cutting it apart for a living. What I'd taken to be beef carcasses were all wrong, completely different bone structure. Not deer, hopefully not horse. The plucked birds varied wildly in size and shape, none the usual barnyard fowl. Nearby was a rack of what looked like skinned snakes. There were things that reminded me of elephant's trunks, crocodile tails, ostrich talons, even a pile of severed, monkey-like feet, but the proportions were a little funny. The colors and textures seemed just slightly unnatural.

Nothing was even labeled in a language I could name. It all looked like meaningless squiggles, like a child pretending to emulate a foreign alphabet. Stamped everywhere was the same stupid looking company icon; a smiling, cartoon hamburger in a tiny little chef's hat, big round Simpsons-looking eyeballs staring straight ahead.

Still playing tough-guy, I could only think that all this shit must have cost a fortune. Half of it was probably on an endangered list, somewhere. I wondered if I could blackmail these assholes. I spent another few minutes screaming for attention. I banged at the door with with a big, heavy can of God knows what. I tried my phone again. Still nothing. Worse still, I was beginning to feel hungry. How long had I even been here?

I wasn't about to try eating anything raw, but I had yet to give the pickle shelf a closer look. There were hundreds of jars. Something in them had to be palatable. I considered how expensive they might be, but they'd have to have a lot of gall to charge me at this point.

The jars were oddly dusty, as though they hadn't been touched in months. I picked one at random and wiped it clean. Eyeballs. Somehow not surprising.

I tried another. It was packed with fat, white spiders. Some people. I passed again on what resembled a bundle of spaghetti erupting from a heart, ditto on the purple maggots. A jar of fetal mice was the only thing I'd ever actually seen for sale as food before, in a Korean market, and probably the only thing I wouldn't have bitten into to save my life. Another jar was filled with something black, fuzzy and tangled. It didn't look like anything.

As I held it up to the light for a closer look, it jerkily, abruptly twisted in its glass prison with a muffled, gurgling squelch. I let out a mighty F-bomb and fell straight on my ass. The jar sailed from my clutches and shattered hard against the floor. The thing inside uncurled. It looked like a slick, black octopus. Its little arms flexed. It was alive.

I gagged a little, watching the tiny squid-thing drag itself nowhere in particular. How was that even possible? What the hell survives PICKLING?

The wiggling glob set off an avalanche of new alarm bells. Things I'd skimmed over were coming back to gnaw my brain. Keeping my distance from the shattered jar and its impossible contents, I rifled through shelves with a new found awe and disgust, registering things my brain had been refusing to dwell on. Elephant trunks? Was I an idiot? What the hell kind of elephant has a trunk with fangs on the end? What bird has webbed, metallic fins where it's supposed to have wings? What in God's name has a head like a hairy sawfish and no eyes? The "snakes," on closer inspection, had legs. A lot of legs. Something like a six-winged housefly was impaled on a skewer, as big as a Maine lobster. Even I knew that insects didn't have little human-looking teeth and jaws.

Anger was all I had to drown out my growing terror. I stomped around the Pantry From Beyond for over an hour, calling for help again whenever my lungs stopped aching. I popped open one of the coolers, half expecting a giant tentacle to reach out and pull me inside. I definitely wasn't expecting to find hundreds of perfectly clean, white, cat-like skeletons, neatly shrink wrapped on styrofoam trays. A happy hamburger sticker was plastered to each, its right eye in a mocking wink. "WHO THE FUCK IS EATING SKELETONS!?" I roared aloud to nobody as I slammed it shut.

I was almost too baffled, too frustrated to hear the metallic clinking behind me. The long, groaning creak was what caught my attention.

The sound of a door opening. Of THE door opening.

The rage, the fear, the million and a half desperate questions all but melted away. Tears were already welling in my eyes as I turned to greet my savior.

Standing in the doorway was a hamburger in a chef's hat.

Now, you might expect anyone's first instinct to be that this was only some poor bastard in a stuffy costume, perhaps on his way to dance around for some snotty brats when he happened to pass by and heard me shrieking. You would have had to have been there to know just how blatantly, immediately wrong it all was.

No corporation, no human being in their right mind would have commissioned this abomination as an advertising mascot. Not with every ground gobbet of meat in steaming, glistening detail. Not with black and green splotches of mold eating away at its oversized bun. Not with waxy streams of curdled grease dribbling to the floor like frothy dog slobber and sure as hell not with the overwhelming, unmistakable stink of hot, moist, extremely spoiled meat. Even at a distance I could see the undulation of tiny, white maggots.

The huge, wet, bloodshot eyeballs pulsed rhythmically in their lidless, perfectly circular sockets, and the thing's improbably long, ropy ground-beef arms wobbled around like the limbs of a marionette. Its legs were strangely bare. Hairy, knobbly and disturbingly tiny; the legs of an ancient, emaciated dwarf. They also connected with the body a good five feet apart.

There was absolutely no way for anything shaped like a human being to be inside this thing.

We stared each other down in an awkward, thoughtless silence, man and sandwich, for what seemed like several minutes when it reached one of its slimy muppet arms back to the door and slowly, calmly pulled it shut. From somewhere behind its back, it withdrew the biggest meat cleaver I'd ever seen outside a Looney Tunes bit.

Oh Jesus Fuck.

I took a step back. IT took a step forward. A dangling clot of meat plopped wetly to the floor like a hunk of shit.

Before I knew it, the ugly, tiny legs had whipped into a frenzy of motion, a mad skitter I can only compare to a dog trying to tap-dance on an ice rink, though the whole thing only glided forward in a slow, steady pace, burger-body wobbling like a jell-o mold but never quite tipping over. It would have been damn entertaining if a rather large and sharp slab of metal didn't come sailing within an inch of my stomach.

You never really know your own reflexes until they're keeping your intestines where they belong. The locker may have been huge, but the thing had a good five foot or six foot reach. It took another shot at my stomach. I fell backwards as it went for my eyes and rolled just in time to save an ankle, the weapon sticking for one life-saving moment in some sort of inside-out sloth. It dawned on me that none of these precisely aimed strikes would have actually killed me, and I made a noise unbecoming of an adult.

The rest of our battle, if you can call it that, was a continuous rush of blind, primal panic. I overturned boxes, I threw whatever I could lift. I tore around the room like a trapped animal as a god-damn hamburger tried to maim me in a vault full of dead monsters. Go ahead and laugh, asshole.

I was in hysterics by the time I got a shot at the door. It wasn't locked anymore, but the damn wheel could only turn at a snail's pace. I could hear the bastard skittering behind me, the whistle of the cleaver closer and closer. I was finally about to give up on the door when I heard the splat.

He had fallen.

He was flat on his stupid fucking sandwich face.

It was the pickle jar. The one I'd broken. He had slipped on that black, oily octopus thing like a banana peel, leaving a long, dark smear on the floor. He didn't move a muscle, assuming he had any.

Despite everything I'd seen up to this point, I was not expecting what happened next.

Swiftly and silently, the room stirred to life. I'm not even ashamed to say I pissed myself. So would you. I'd practically earned it by now.

Claws flexed. Eyes snapped open. Skinned and headless bodies teetered upright on bony stubs. Everything in the room that had hypothetically been alive at one time was waking up, and all of their attention was on the prone body of the burger-man. Cuts of meat rippled toward the crumpled beast like caterpillars. Intestines slinked along like sweaty, pale blue worms. The cooler of skeletons burst open, bony bodies trailing whisps of plastic wrap as they poured forth in an antlike stream. Soon, the fallen mascot was barely visible beneath a scrabbling, churning heap of mutilated monsters, a pool of remarkably normal blood spreading rapidly outwards.

A feeding frenzy. Even the life-saving little squid, none the worse for wear, was inching its merry way towards the nearest hunk of burger. Godspeed.

Confident the swarming meat was adequately distracted, I turned back to the door and put my full weight on the wheel. An agonizing twelve seconds later, it popped ajar and creakily swung open. I didn't think about what might be on the other side. I slipped out the instant I had room, slammed it shut and locked it tight.

I collapsed my back against it and slumped to the floor, panting as I came down off my adrenaline high, my mind momentarily refusing to process my new surroundings.

My oddly familiar surroundings. Not as cold as they should be.

Something almost, but not quite like the head of a pig licked its chops from a nearby shelf.

Standing between me and the next door was a small chicken. Plucked and headless.

It cocked its shotgun.

Funny Polly

By: James B. Davis

I walked out side early in the morning, the sun was just coming up, I had head phones in, and I walked down to the mail box. There was nothing in it though, so I just walked back up to the house and on the couch, I turned on the TV, and put on my favorite TV show. The episode was season finally and left with a cliff hanger, and a rather shocking one at that. It was seven in the morning by the time the show was over, and my kids John and Annabel were waking up.

They came out, grabbed their cereal, and turned on their favorite cartoon. They ate their breakfast and went outside to play. I went to take a nap while they played outside, and I had the most horrible dreams.

I dreamed that I was in a room full of people dancing and having fun. There was a large stage in the center of the room, it had a to big pillars leading to the roof, and one huge speaker at the end of it. . All of a sudden the room went dark, a spot light appeared on the stage an almost tall silhouetted man stood on the stage alone, with a tall top hat, tall boots, and a black and white stripped suit. A microphone stand stood in front of him. “Do you like to have fun,” He yelled into the micro phone in a nasally English accent “cause I have a fun game to play!” He continued. He point straight at me and a spot lit on me. “Get him, have fun,” yelled over the micro phone “the one who brings me his head gets the prize!” he cried and every one in the room ran at me and started taring at me, and ripping me apart. I woke up in a cold sweat, “Damn.” I rubbed my face.

I walked outside and called for my kids “John? Annabel? It's time for lunch.” they came running to he door and ran past me into the house. They sat down at the dining room table and gave them their lunch, and I sat down myself to eat. “We made a new friend.” said Annabel “Oh yeah, what his name?” I said “Funny Polly.” John said “That's a strange name. Where's he live?” I asked “I don't know.” Said Annabel “Do you John?” I turned my head John “No.” He said shaking his head “Well, what's he look like?” I asked “He wares a bit tall hat, he's really tall, he wares a black and white stripped suit, and long black hair.” said Annabel, I looked at her with a half shocked look on my face “How old is he?” I asked “He's a grown up.” John interrupted “I need you NOT to talk to him any more, okay?” I said “But da...” they cried “Okay?!” I interrupted “Fine...” they both said at the same time.

I let them both go back outside, but again told them not to talk their new friend. I sat down on the couch again to watch something, but I couldn't stop think about the dream, and what the kids said, Funny Polly sounded just like the guy in my dream. I couldn't find anything to keep my mind off of it, so I went to go check on the kids. They weren't in the front yard like before. I ran to the back yard and looked around nothing, so I ran to the alley to them playing in the alley, they looked like they where talking to someone behind a garage.”Guys? You need to stay in the yard.” they didn't hear me it seemed so walked toward them, when I got to the garage they where at, no one was there, “Who were you guys talking to?” I said as I crouched down to their level. “Polly.” said Annabel “I said not to talk to him. You guys have to promise you wont talk to him anymore, okay.” I said while looking back and forth at them both, “But dad he's our friend.” Said wile frowning “I don't care, you can't talk or play with him any more, now you have to promise.” I said “Okay, dad.” They both said.

I put them to bed that night with a baby monitor in the room. “What's that for daddy?” asked Annabel “Well... I just want to make sure you guys are safe.” I said as was I was plugging in the baby monitor. I walked out of the room and went to bed. Later that night, I heard the kids laughing through the monitor, and got out of bed. I cracked open the door to see them sleeping. I closed the door and went to get a bottle of water. I opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle and saw a shadow move in the doorway. I slowly walked toward the door way that lead to the living. I saw a shadow run up the stair leading to the kids' bedroom.

I ran as fast as my legs would take me, I came into the kids' bedroom and John and Annabel were gone. I say a trail of blood lead to the closet and I slowly walked toward the closet. It opened and John feel out covered in blood, I turned around to high pitch laughter, and saw a tall man with a top hat, a black and white stripped suit, long hair, and face that looked like a skull with tight skin laid over top it. He had Annabel in his arms, he was draining the life out of her as she turned to skeletal rag doll. I jumped on the man, Annabel hit the ground hard, and he pinned me to the floor. He held up one of his hands and long claws came out of his finger tips. He dragged them across my face while laughing hysterically, the claws dug into my skin leaving five long cuts in my flesh. He turned to smoke and floated away out the window. I then heard the police running up the stairs. What did it matter, my children where dead, what else did I have? I simply let myself be dragged away, and thrown into the car.

I live in a mental hospital now, but I really don't care. I'm sitting hear in my cell and I have a bottle of bleach, I'm gonna drink it. I'm writing this so that people know my story, good by...

Centipedes Part II

I walked toward the bag, it was looked like a heart beating. I touched the bag and it moved even more and burst open. Worms, leeches, and centipedes poured out. They scattered throughout the room and disappeared. I looked around in terror, I again moved my bedding back onto the bed, and sat up in bed all night, and never slept.

At sun rise I walked out into kitchen and my aunt was making food. I sat down at a chair I was at all times looking around, my aunt looked at me confused, “George?” I just continued to look around “George!” “What?” I said “You okay?” she asked “No, not at all.” I got up and walked away. I walked upstairs to the bathroom. I sat down on the toilet, and still looked around very paranoid. I saw things move around in the corners of eyes. I tried to hurry, when the drawer open in front of me and a huge centipede came out, I pulled up my pants and ran out of the bathroom. I bumped into my aunt with my back, I turned to see my aunt with leeches, worms, and centipedes dripped from her mouth and eye sockets, I screamed and fell back, I crawled backward toward the staircase. My aunt stumble toward me trying to speak, I heard one word, “Hunger.” I got up as fast I could as a wave of leeches, worms, and centipedes came from the bathroom and washed my aunt away.

Once I reached the door the ground in front of it burst open and a giant centipede crawled out, this centipede was at least four feet long, it crawled onto me and I threw it off of me. I ran to the backdoor. In front of the backdoor was a large pile of leeches. So I ran to the window and jumped out hitting my head. The next thing I know I'm in a police station, and big police officer walked in and sat next to me. “So George, what happened?” he said “I don't know.” I said “Really? Well, I think you do know, and that you killed you're aunt.” he said and leaned back in his chair. “What the hell did you just say!” I yelled and he got up in a hurry and right in my face. Another officer came in through the door “Leave the poor boy alone Lew.” said the police officer, he sat down in front of me “I'm sorry George, I have to apologize for my partner” said the officer “Before you even start, don't play the good cop, bad cop on me.” I said “Well I'm sorry.” he said as he got and walked around the table both the officers grabbed me by the shoulders and forced me out the door and hallway. The two police officers threw me into a dark room, I couldn't see anything, but I could hear it, a clicking, the light turned on and a thousand squirmy creatures filled the room, I banged and banged on the door, I saw the officers standing outside laughing, that was the last thing I saw...

Contest Winner: I Told You So

By: Mazy Leister

"come on Alice don't be a baby." As he says this he raises the flashlight to meet my eyes. I look down at my feet to protect my eyes from the piercing light. "It just doesn't feel right,ya know?" I said this while hugging my arms around my body for warmth. Jace smirks. "What are you scared?" I look up to argue that i was not scared, but was blinded once more. He turned to look at the nature infested children's home. "I'm going in, you can just wait out here". He said this as he ran up and into the orphanage . "Dammit Jace! you can't just leave me out here !" I yell after him. As I walk up the stairs to the building I whisper to myself "You going to be sorry for making me go in this place." It was cold in the orphanage, colder then it was outside. Jace was looking at some peices of paper throne across the hall. I crouched down next to him. "You are a jerk." "I know but I'm your jerk." I could almost hear his smile. I stand up. Draging Jace with me. " Well as long as were here lets explore."I say this in the fackest existing voice I could manage. Slowly we crept from room to room finding old toys and empty bed frames. As we were searching through an old foot locker a faint almost singing sounded. Jace look at me frowning " Why are you humming?". " I'm not ." as I say this the singing grows loader. Jace's facile expression turn from shock to concern. "Are you all right?" I was about to answer, when I noticed he wasn't looking me, he was looking past me. As I turned I meet the face of what looked like a little girl, except it wasn't just a little girl. Her skin was white and shiny almost like glass. perfect ringlets of glossy black hair fell to her shoulders. Her mouth and eyes were unmoving but, yet some how giggling still escaped from her painted on lips. Jace must have not noticed because he still was asking questions. "What's your name?" giggling through her answer she said "My name is Isabell." She tilted her head in my direction and then took off down the hallway . Jace sprinted after her yelling after me to follow . After a few minutes of chasing we came to a door that was open but only slightly. A light shone through the crack. Jace said something to me but I couldn't hear because of the blood rushing pass my ears. Adrenaline and blood lust pumping through my body. I had to bite my lip to stop my self from laughing. God I love this feeling. He was crouched down in front of the porcelain girl. As he reached to touch the girls arm, I pick up a piece of glass. I rub my finger along the serrated edge drawing blood. A smile makes its way to my face. I grab a fitful of Jaces hair pulling his head back to meet my eyes. i wanted to watch as the life left his eyes. Smiling down at him taking the piece of glass and sliding it across his throat. a gurgle escaped form his mouth and a giggle escapes from mine. My dolly is laughing to. "Isabell your all dirty." I say giggling. her white skin was stained red with blood. "Alice can i get a new dress this one is ruined?" "Really Isabell, I get you a new dress every month you don't have to ask." Another giggle leaves my lips. " I told you you'd be sorry."

Doctor Dementist

By: Jonathan Wojcik from Bogleech.com

I'd always prided myself in taking great care of my teeth.

They'd all come in flawlessly, and I'd fastidiously kept every last one pearly and clean. This was due in no small part to a minor apprehension towards dentists. I'd never even been to one for more than a routine check-up, and I intended to keep it that way for as long as I could.

Unsurprisingly, I had never paid into any dental insurance, either.

That's how I found my idiot self in the single skeeviest waiting room I'd ever had to endure. My first toothache had struck swiftly and mercilessly. The persistent throbs of sharp, searing pain like a small but surprisingly loud heckler in my mouth, mocking my years of confident brushing and flossing.

I'd happened upon the public clinic purely by accident, its yellowed sign advertising "No isurance?(sic) No prob em! walk ins 80$$"

It was fishy, sure, but I couldn't afford much else for at least another week, and at this point, I just wanted the damn thing pulled. How hard could that be?

Nobody was there to greet me when I entered - not even another patient - but a flickering sign near the ceiling urged me to take a seat. A chipper "be right with you" was barely audible behind the lone, unmarked office door.

The only thing more hideous than the room's plaid, green-brown carpeting was its wallpaper of tan and yellow squiggles. The tattered reading material was a good decade out of date, and the selection astoundingly haphazard. A magazine for reptile enthusiasts. A Doll Collector's monthly price guide. Two different magazines about quilting and something that looked like a Korean "Highlights." The room's sole decor was a giant, framed drawing of a smiling mouth in corrective headgear, the metal contraption forming goofy little arms and legs. "WHATEVER, GUYS! IT'S DOCTOR DEMENTIST" was printed below it in comic sans. The cheesy yet somewhat disquieting pun name was in bright red.

Fifteen minutes passed. Another cautious hello was met with the same muffled be-right-with-you.

I was just beginning to lose my patience when the door startlingly burst open, and the next thing I knew, I was strapped into a dentist's chair.

Strapped.

Were they supposed to do that?

I couldn't even remember how I'd gotten there. I couldn't remember anything between that door swinging open and finding myself captive. Something cold and metallic was holding my mouth open.

I craned my neck as far as I could, and grunted out a few meek cries for attention. I couldn't see or hear a soul, and the surroundings did nothing to calm me. A seemingly excessive selection of gleaming, painful-looking tools were laid out on at least a half-dozen plastic trays, and the walls were plastered with old X-rays that only seldom seemed to fall under the "dental" umbrella. Fractured ribs. Deformed skulls. Foreign objects lodged in embarrassing places. Several X-rays were quite clearly taken from animals, and there were a few pregnancy sonograms.

...What back-alley butcher was I subjecting myself to?

I was just about to call out again when I saw something moving.

Something moving that was not a person.

What had entered my rather limited field of vision was taking some time to process. It looked at first like a meaningless pile of junk, a jumbled tangle of metallic joints and hinges loosely wired and bolted together. It shambled sideways in an awkward crab-walk, knife-like "legs" adding even more scratches to the cheap-looking linoleum floor. Something about the way it moved made me uncomfortable in a very particular way, a certain unreal quality I couldn't quite place.

At the center of it all was an enormous set of false teeth, suspended in a web of gleaming wires and rubber bands. I was suddenly reminded of that artwork in the waiting room. What the hell was that thing's name?

If this was some sort of puppet show, some educational robot here to talk to me about oral hygiene, it was both far more impressive and far more terrifying than it had any right to be. Is this where they had sunk their budget? Whatever happened to a good old sock with googly eyes?

I jumped in my restraints as a harsh, gravely voice erupted from behind its fake gums.

"EXCLAMATION, YOU'VE GROWN!"

This was an odd thing for the monstrosity to say. I think I'd have remembered ever meeting Satan's dentures before.

"PLEASE BE PATIENT, PATIENT, THE ANESTHESIA WILL ARRIVE SHORTLY."

It spoke with a hollow, mechanical reverberation, like something out of Doctor Who, the teeth opening and closing completely out of synch with the dialog.

"DO NOT BE ALARMED, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A COMPLAINT."

The jaws chattered rapidly in what seemed like laughter at a private joke.

A set of jointed, metal arms and hands unfolded from the contraption's sides. It teetered its way to the nearest table and began to pick through the surrounding tools, carefully wiping each with a dripping, blackened rag. It only made them dirtier, trailing long, snotty strands of glistening filth.

I could feel my heart pounding as I watched the grotesque thing at work. I knew what had been bothering me; even for a giant, metal denture-crab, it simply didn't look real. It moved with the unmistakable stagger of a stop-motion special effect, and it even had a sort of enlarged, super-imposed quality, inconsistent with the lighting of everything else in the room.

I was already under. That had to be it. I was whacked out on laughing gas. I'd wake up any minute now, in a normal dentist's chair, a flesh-and-blood human being critiquing my brushing technique.

It was the only conceivable explanation that made sense...so why couldn't I believe it?

Why couldn't I shake the panic?

"ARE YOU PLEASED BY THE OUTCOME OF A SPORTING EVENT AND/OR ELECTION PROCESS OF YOUR CHOICE?"

I could only whimper pitifully in response.

"AH. I CAN RELATE WELL TO THOSE SENTIMENTS! I HOPE THAT THIS CASUAL DISCOURSE HAS PROVIDED COMFORT. IT APPEARS THAT ANNA HAS ARRIVED ON SCHEDULE."

I was hardly surprised that "Anna" appeared to be nothing but a giant, grimy gas tank, rolling of its own accord on mismatched wheels. Its plastic hose silently writhed through the air like a pale, transparent eel, landing an oily, smeared mouthpiece squarely over my face.

I didn't care anymore if I was high or dreaming or God only knows. I began to fight against my restraints with all my might, heaving and lurching with every muscle in my body. Nothing gave. The chair itself barely shook, like it was all one seamless hunk of iron.

The demon braces only waggled a steely finger. "I must request that you keep still, if you don't mind; I haven't got my eyes today."

I whimpered again.

Anna the gas-tank turned one large, shattered meter towards her cohort, and a tinny, feminine voice echoed from somewhere unseen.

"What do?"

The knife-legged "doctor" adjusted a large headlamp to face my mouth, apparently not noticing that it was long burnt out.

"PULLING TEETH, OF COURSE! OR DRILLING TEETH. WHATEVER, GUYS!" Another chatter-laugh.

Anna's little meter-head cocked to one side, like a confused puppy.

"...What's a... teeth?"

As the monster fired up an alarmingly large drill, I became very aware that I wasn't actually receiving any gas.

It gave a creaky, metallic little shrug.

Creeping Joe

By: James B. Davis

My name is Ash, I am 14, and I am a psychic. I have been psychic ever since I can remember, and people always bother me, ask me to tell them their future, or to read their mind. But lets get to the point, our story begins, in Spokane, Washington...

It was July 4th, 2013 and me and my family were watching the fire works, when we got separated, we agreed to meet at the fountain down town if we got separated, so that's ware I went. I rushed to the fountain, moving through people, getting pushed around, I fell a couple times. I got to the fountain, I looked around for my dad or my mom, I saw neither of them, so I waited and waited.

I sat there on a bench, for almost three hours, when a girl, with blonde hair, blue eyes, about my same age, walked up to me. She asked if I was who I was, I told her I was, she asked if I could look into her future. I figured it wouldn't hurt, so I put my hand on the top of her head and closed my eyes. I saw her walking in the woods and sleeping under a tree, but that's when something else got into my head, I saw something terrible crawling on the ground, it looked like a man with gray skin and no hair. When I saw this I jolted back. She asked what was wrong, I said “Nothing Alice, nothing at all.” she asked “ How do you know my name.” I simply said “ I'm Psychic.” she laughed at that, god she had a horrible laugh.

I talked to Alice for a couple hours, then she walked away, but she would be back, but we'll talk about that later. I walked around the park near the fountain for awhile, kicking pine cones around, even got some food at a cart. But after awhile I got a flash in my mind, a flash of a gray face with no hair at all, the same face as when I looking into Alice's future, that's when I went back to the fountain. I sat at the same bench as before, still waiting for my family. I got another flash in my mind, this of that creature run toward me on all fours. I nearly fell on my face, I shook so much from that while it happened. I sat there for awhile shaking, I wished my family would get there.

I got a long picture in my mind of me and my family, I was melting. I flipped the hell out, jumped out of the bench and bumped into some people, I told them was sorry, not that that meant anything to them. I wanted to get the hell out there. So I ran into the street and into the tall buildings around me.

That's when a ran into Alice again. She asked what was wrong and ware I was going, I told her “I'm getting the hell out of here!” she ran after me. I ran into an alleyway with a dead end, Alice was right behind me again. She asked what was wrong. I told her something was after me, I told her what it looked like, and that was all I knew.

Something crawled down the side of the building, it was looked like everything I saw in my mind. It's eyes glowed like purple torches, it's nails dragged across the ground making sounds like screaming children, and it jumped on me clawing my face. I picked out a long metal pipe, and hit the creature on the back, it fell and squirmed on the ground. It jumped on me again, and put his hand on my head. I saw the creature as a man, he shot someone in the head, the man's brothers put him in sack, and threw him off a bridge. It was under that bridge that he here turned into Creeping Joe, and he killed the brothers of that man.

So I learned that that creature's name was Creeping Joe, and that I wanted to kill me for some reason.
So I grabbed the metal pipe again and bashed Creeping Joe in the back, I got back up and started pounding Creeping Joe with that pipe till his insides were his outsides. Alice was there the whole time, I didn't even know, she stood there, with a blank look on her face. I walked out the alleyway.

It sun rise when my family finally got to the freaking fountain. So we all got into the car, I was pissed. I asked why it took so long, my mom said “We didn't remember ware it was that we gonna meet.” she laughed for some reason, I didn't find anything about that funny. I still know Alice, and I still haven't seen Creeping Joe again, and I hope not to...

Centipedes

By: James B. Davis

I ran out the door, as fast as I could, I wasn't turning back, no way. Okay I'm, sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself, I'll start from the beginning. It was two days ago, during the spring equinox, my mom had sent me to my room, because I broke a plate or cup, or something like that. So when I went into my room I looked around a sat on my couch.

I looked to my side and noticed that there was centipede crawling out the couch cushion. I jumped into the air and fell on my back, I looked up and the centipede was nowhere in sight. I slowly got and plopped on my bed. I looked around the room looked like it was spinning, then I blacked out. I woke up to my mother and father over me saying my name over and over. They both seemed confused, “What?” I said, they asked what happen and I sat up. “I was sitting on the couch I big bug came out of the cushion, I jumped back and hit my.” I said as I rubbed my head. They said that I should lay down, and try to get some sleep and they left. I laid there, for hours looking at the wall trying to sleep. I tossed and turned, then I looked to a hole in my bed.

I sat up and picked at the hole, I tour through a layer of foam, stopped, realizing what I was doing, and laid back down. I sat there, I figured I turn on my TV. I put on some old big spider movie, that I don't remember the name. I sat there , I almost fell asleep, when the centipede from before crawled across the screen, I got up and walked toward the TV, and smashed the centipede, I got grossed out from it, I stumbled back and fell on my bed. I looked around and saw the hole again. I started picking again, I went through a all the layers of foam when it felt like something bit me. I pulled my arm back and looked at my finger. There was a drop of blood on it, I looked to hole in my bed, and a leech crawled out, along with worms, and more leeches, and centipedes, the squirmy creatures kept coming out, piling out of the hole, I screamed, by that time, most of my bed was covered and they were still coming. I ran out the door, as fast as I could, I wasn't turning back, no way, I ran into my mom, she asked what was wrong. I started to talk when my father came from behind, covered in leeches.

My mother, she screamed as loud as she could, when a wave of squirming, slimy creatures came to our feet, I ran out the front door, as centipedes, worms, and leeches grabbed at my feet, I was on the front yard I looked at the front door, and pile of the creature at on the porch. I ran down the side walk, to tired to move, I hit the ground hard, the next thing know I'm in a hospital bed. The doctor walked in, he said “Well George, I've got good and bad news, what do you want to first?” “The bed news.” I said, “Your family is dead, I'm so sorry.” he said “But, your aunt is on her way to pick you up from Maine, she'll be here in a few day, and you're gonna fine.” he said as started walking away, “Wait!” I cried “How did they die?” the doctor walked back to me “I.. I don't think you should know. “ he said “Tell me, please”, I pleaded “They lost all there blood, I have to go now, I'm sorry George.” he said, he then left the room. I looked to the window, I fell asleep.

I woke up at noon, the next day, my aunt walked into the room, “Hey George.” I rubbed my face and looked out my window and sighed. The next day I grabbed my stuff, and loaded it into my aunt's car. We took off to Maine the next day. We got there by twelve P.M., My aunt showed me to my room, and left me be. I saw my new bed, I gulped at the sight of it, I threw everything from it onto the ground, I made my bed on the floor. I looked to my bags, I saw something, it looked like something was in my bag. I walked toward the bag, and it fell to the ground. I looked at the bag, and something squirmed inside...

Foot Worm

By: James B. Davis

It was cold, it was morning. I walked out side to get the mail without shoes on. I got the mail and walked back to the house, I stepped on something, it felt like glass. I yelled it hurt so bad, so I quickly limped back to the house. I got back in the house and I and sat on the couch, I looked at the bottom of my foot and there was huge gash on my foot, black slime was dripping from the gash. I nearly vomited when I saw the wound, I ran to the bathroom and put my head over the toilet. I didn't vomit, I just really felt like I was gonna. After that, I got dressed and got in the car. I drove my self to the emergency room. I was sitting in the my doctor's office alone, and my foot started hurting a lot. I started moaning in pain, when the doctor came. “How's it going Jack?” Said the doctor “I don't know.” I said said “Well what seems to be the problem?” “ I was walking out side to the get the mail this morning barefoot, I stepped on something.” I said “Well lets take a look shall we?” I put my foot up and the doctor looked as if he was gonna vomit. “What did you step on, I bear trap?” the doctor said with a very worried look on his face. “ I really don't know, It was dripping with black ooze when I first looked at it.” I said “Black ooze?” he said “Yeah, really thick, black ooze.” “Well why don't you come back in a couple of days and it anymore of that oozy stuff comes back, bring me some in a jar.” He said “Okay.” I said
But before you go, I'm gonna give you this ointment to put on the wound.” “Thanks doc.” I said as I walked out the room with him.

I got home and went to bed, I god I had some weird dreams. When I woke up, I saw something moving under the blankets by my foot. I froze, I slowly lifted the blankets, nothing was there but a big puddle of that black ooze. “Oh shit!” I quickly got up, and drove back to the doctors. I was speeding, so fast that if I got in a crash I would die. I had a jar of the ooze in the other set, I looked at it and it looked like it was moving. I looked back to the street and swerved out of the way of a large semi-truck. I got to the hospital and stumbled in like a man that had drank five gallons of liquor. “ I need to see Dr. Franklin.” I said “I'm sorry but Dr. Franklin is out today.” “Get me a fucking doctor!” I yelled at the woman behind the counter.
The next thing I knew I was laying in a hospital bed with doctors all around, I felt something slip out of my foot, and I saw doctor holding a big worm-like creature with a pare of tongs. I vomited to the side and all the doctors jumped back. The big worm hit the ground and crawled out the room. I was screaming bloody murder, and the doctor gave me a shot and I fell a sleep. I woke up alone, my foot hurt a lot, I looked to my side and saw the worm in a jar of liquid alive, I jumped from the site of it. I looked around and doctor came in the room, “how are you feeling Jack?” Said one of the doctors “Like total shit, how about you.” “Well you were the host of a never before seen parasite, we've decided to call it a Foot worm.” “A Foot worm? Well what was the ooze?” I asked “That was a casing for the parasites eggs, about five hundred of them.” said the doctor “Holy shit. When can I leave?” I asked Tomorrow night.” said the doctor with smile “Okay” I said with a sigh. The next night I left in my car, I was so glad. I looked to the next set over, I saw something moving under the set's covering...
